Pool: Strollers leaving the rest in the shade

Saturday, October 13, 2007

It's a fact that the WM Hill (B&D) pool league is now recognised as the number one in the province and with 38 teams on cue each week playing over three divisions, the style of play is out of the top drawer.

And it's always played in a very competitive and sporting manner.

And putting the icing on the cake sponsors Hill have secured a very healthy sponsorship for the next three years-plus.

No wonder the league is the envy of many and they can look forward to a strong financial structure over the next few years as the league goes from strength to strength.

Premier highlights:

A team who are firing on all cylinders this season in the Premier are Shankill hot-shots Highland Strollers, who are unbeaten.

Having their best start to the season they are determined to proceed on the same vein.

Rivals Longfellows and others be on your guard!

Other Highlights

Premier champions Longfellows kept their record intact in fine style.

Last week they ruffled Rab McGeery's young Cock 'N' Hens feathers inflicting a crushing 9-1 defeat.

It could well have been a whitewash win only for Fellow's Alio McKenzie who fouled up after potting his opponent's ball instead of his own.

East 4 were on the ball in beating rivals The Raven by 4-3.

Highfield Shooters had a victory over rivals Berlin.

Ibrox boys were 7-3 winners over an off-colour My Lady's.
