Vistors Ballinamallard United were in the ascendancy throughout the first
half.
After good efforts for the visitors from defender Matthew Holden and striker
Warner Mullam, Stevie Cunningham broke through a hesitant Queen's defence to
place the ball wide of goalkeeper David Titterington and into the corner of
the net to give Ballinamallard a 28th minute lead.
Seven minutes later David Higginbottom, with a well placed shot from the
edge of the penalty area following a goalmouth melee, netted a second
Ballinamallard goal.
The best efforts for the Students were two Peter Thompson free kicks, both
comfortably saved by keeper Trevor Morrison.

Queens 'keeper David Titterington made a good blocking save from Darren
Higginbottom after an hours play but the keeper was at fault five minutes
later when he allowed a speculative shot from the same player to go under
his body and into the net.
In the 70th minute Coleraine referee Jonathan McCrum spotted an offence
inside the Queen's penalty area and from the resulting penalty Matthew
Holden netted in style for a fourth Ballinamallard goal.
In stoppage time Queen's University scored a consolation goal when
Ballinamallard defender Matthew Holden diverted Eunan Donnelly's left-wing
cross into his own net.
