Chimney Corner 4 Annagh United 3
Saturday, April 26, 2008
Chimney Corner completed their disappointing season with a good win after
last Saturday's 10-0 defeat to league leaders Dergview.
Annagh, beaten only twice before this encounter, were three goals down after
just 12 minutes and despite a strong finish manager-less Corner held out for
their fourth win in 22 fixtures.
Gary Brown got the scoring under way in the fifth minute after good work by
Aaron Wallace.
Sean Ward increased his team's lead on nine minutes from the penalty spot
after Brown was pulled down.
Wallace, who looked dangerous throughout, made it 3-0 with 12 minutes on the
clock following a superb move started by the energetic Brown.
Brian Quilty on 31 minutes reduced the arrears after a great
defence-splitting pass by David Nesbitt.
In the 61st minute Nesbitt with a pile-driver from 20-yards gave the keeper
no chance.
Wallace ran right through the middle round two defenders with 76 minutes
gone to regain the home outfit's two-goal advantage.
Shortly before this Robert Bell was shown a red card for dissent following a
foul and a quarter of an hour later he was joined in the dressing room by
Annagh's Stephen Heasley following a foul.
Quilty got his second and United's third in the final minute from a
spot-kick after Adam Neill brought down Vincent McCormick.
